The Talaria Sting is a lightweight aluminium alloy 6kw moped similar in look and capabilities to the Surron LightBee road-legal bike weighing just 63kg. This is the road-legal version and hence follows all the same legalities as any other road-legal 50cc mopeds ie Insurance, helmet, Licence, MOT after 3 years, Number Plate etc. It also can only go where other 50cc equivalent vehicles can go.
Please note that unlike the off-road Talaria Sting, this version by default comes as a 28mph moped category vehicle although it can be de-restricted to 45mph like the off-road version. Please note that if this is done, you must tell your insurer and have a licence for a 125cc equivalent vehicle (eg CBT or greater)
It has a 3kw nominal, 6kw peak mid-mounted 60v motor in combination with a removable 13kg 38.4ah battery giving a quoted mximum range of 43 miles (at 20mph).
It is chain driven driving 19" wheels with 4 level adjustable re-gen.
As it shares so many design charateristics with the Surron, spares and accessories (excluding battery) such as forks, sprockets etc should for the Sting.
As this is a road legal vehicle, this version does qualify for the OLEV Grant offering 2 years warranty on the bike and 3 years on the battery. (The off-road version has the standard manufacturers warranty).
